Sierra de Toloño, 2022 La Dula de Garnacha Altura
$331.20/ 6-bottle case
The nuanced and elegant La Dula comes from a plot of Garnacha planted in 1944 at 700 meters in altitude in the village of Ribas de Tereso. The idea here is to show a pure Garnacha without any makeup, fermented and matured in amphorae, and the wine comes through as very pure, varietal and complex, really attractive and with a velvety palate with round and very fine tannins, great balance and purity. There is a sense of harmony here that I like very much. There is ripeness and depth of flavours. Lovely. Unfortunately, only 633 bottles were produced and filled in August 2019, after close to one year in amphorae.

About the producer
Sierra de Toloño is the personal project of Sandra Bravo, who keeps working to recover old vineyards and plant some new ones, getting more involved in organic and biodynamic farming. She works with small plots of 40- to 100-year-old vines and produces 50,000 bottles, with some experimentation in the winery too. The wines seem to be getting better and better, and the range keeps growing too. This year the high-altitude Garnachas stole my heart. (Luis Gutierrez). We love Sandra’s wines, with a purity and freshness that comes from her low intervention style of winemaking and high altitude vineyards.
