Massimo Rattalino - Mixed Case Offer

Massimo Rattalino - Mixed Case Offer

$499.00 / 6-bottle case

This offer of a mixed case showcases both the nature of the great vineyards and Mr. Rattalino’s winemaking genious, with vintages spanning from 2011 to 2018, hence allowing you to trace the development of these gems over a seven year period. All of this in wines that have entered their optimal drinking period.

The 2011 Barolo Riserva Sel. 37 is 12 years old, and comes from Monforte, where the greratest Barolo grapes hail from. A complex wine that showcases excellent fruit integrated with the secondary and tertiary flavours of cedar, cigar box that can only develop with careful aging.

The 2015 Barolo Normale Sel. 34 is prototypical of the house. Ripe, round and lush. An excellent gastronomic wine that exemplifies the Barolo terroir. A pleasure to drink today with the potential for further aging.

The 2018 Nebbiolo d’Alba Sel. 27 is unique because it is so ripe and the fruit is so present, a rarity in this appellation. Tasted blind one would guess it is a Barolo, rather than its less renowned cousin. A true iron fist in a velvet glove, this wine is for drinking today accompanied by a robust meal.

About the producer

Massimo Rattalino is a traditional Piedmontese producer with choice vineyards in Barolo, Barbaresco and Alba. These are classic wines produced without destemming the whole grape clusters, and the aging is done in huge botti (wooden tanks). The resulting wines are complex, ethereal, with the typical nuances of rose petals, tar and dark fruit. Rattalino excels in coaxing the ripest tannins out of his wines, making them round and very pleasurable to drink young, a rarity in Piedmontese wines, where tannins tend to be harsh and requiring a long time to resolve themselves.
